Memo #1

Date: April 19, 2009

To: Boxes and More Employees

From: Mark King, Manager

Subject: Pre-Work Stretching

A new pre-work stretching program will be implemented immediately. We are starting this new program so that it will loosen everyone up before they have to go to work. The assistant managers and myself have come up with the program.

Everyone will show up to there shift an extra forty five minutes early. During this forty five minutes we will do different stretches and rotations, these will help cut down on injuries and also hopefully clear your mind. My goal is to have a more comfortable working environment, and to keep every one's insurance cost down. I will be there leading these stretches. Everyone is encouraged to get involved and make this a fun event.

All employees will get paid for there time doing these stretches. This should add an extra three hours and forty five minutes to your work week. These stretches will put you over your forty hours so you can think of it as getting paid time and half for having fun. If you can not make it to these stretches then you need to let one of my assistant manager know at least thirty minutes early.

Remember that these exercises will benefit you. If you have any questions or comments you can contact me. Do not be afraid to come up with some suggestions for these stretches and rotations. If you feel like something needs to be added, suggest it. I will do my best to make sure that we are getting a stretch session and having fun at the same time.

To: Suzette Chase
From: Mark King
Subject: Recommendation for Employee Absenteeism

Suzette:

As you requested, I am submitting my recommendations for dealing with your employee. The first problem that we have we this issue is that it shows insubordination. The second problem is that it affects work performance.

Inform New Employees Of Attendance Policies:

You should establish expectations during the first initial interview with an applicant. If your employees are going to be absent they should give you a 24 hour notice if possible. Let them know that there is a point system for being absent. You should come up with this system and put a memorandum out to all of your employees.

Maintain A Written Log:

I suggest that it is very important that you keep the log on your people being absent. When or if there comes a time when we have to punish the person we have information as a record. Also another great thing about that is it shows how much one person can effect a company.
I hope that these suggestions are helpful to you. If you need any further information I am here to help you.

I think Reebok could benefit by diversifying its staff by, the fact it would bring in different opinions from all over the place. I mean you are making shoes so it is all about fashion. People from all over the place are going to have a different out look on fashion and what they want from it. Also it would bring in competition from all over the place for pay. I mean so then they don't keep getting the same people used to a certain type of pay, it might let them pay there employees less. Also some people might just look at color as a reason for buying stuff. So if they see it is all white then they might not buy from them.

I would implement a training program for both the Thais and the Western employees, I would also train everyone. The training would be a sign of showing respect for each other. Also, it would be good for both, Westerners and Thais. So, maybe if one doesn't understand one way then if they try the other way then it might work. I mean especially since communication is very important. When you are working in a country that is not yours, learning their language is showing respect to their culture. However, it is good for the Thais to learn since most of the guests are not natives. It would be good for everyone to learn. Learning never hurts anyone.
