As you already know I went recently and applied for a job as manager at Boxes and More, and the interview went really well. The company said that they were very pleased with me but they needed a letter of recommendation. I know that you had previously stated that if I needed a letter of recommendation to just ask for one.
The position is asking for a background in business. They also would like to have some managerial skills which I think I posse with my military background. To help you write my letter I have enclosed my resume. Also I remember doing many after school projects for your class that was not required, and you kept a log of that.
Please send the letter directly to Mrs. Jonasz at Boxes and More before May 10. I have enclosed a preadressed and stamped envelope. I am thankful for your support over the years and I look forward to keeping in touch.
Sincerely,
Mark King

SUBJECT: Speech Summery (FDR "Fear Speech")
The great thing about Franklin D. Roosevelt was the way he captivated his audience into the whole understanding and main points. At the time, FDR had to be the most visionary person for the nation and his goals was stretched out so good that he was one of the few men who served four terms to accomplish his goals in the time of great need in the country.
A. FDR introduced himself by speaking of the audience, the people of the United States. The start of the speech indicated that he was concerned with the people by going straight into the subjects of peril of the United States to grab the attention to the audience. Through the body of the speech, FDR kept emphasizing and explaining the problems that the nation is undergoing and what we need to do to help the situation.
B. The overall organization of the speech was excellent. You can tell in his speech because he did not stop at all. Another indication was that he was very ready for the speech with the knowledge of his vocabulary. You can tell that when he did look down at his summary inauguration, that he didn't stare at it. This means that he only wrote down keywords and had memorized his speech.
C. FDR was a man who used the verbal signposts to help create coherence in the speech. The raising and lowering of his voice at the right times and right words was a definite signpost. His pausing of speech between words was to help emphasize the subject even more.
D. Franklin D. Roosevelt had many main points. Of course, his message was to point out what the nation needs to do first before we can succeed in our goals. His introduction is what he was best recognized for. "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself". Another point is the going over the "Good Neighbor" policy through world policies and friendship. Some of the biggest ones are to emphasize the importance of creating jobs and helping farmers out in the 48 states.
E. The supporting facts of the speech were clearly stated after each point was made. For instance, when he said was telling the problem of farm jobs, he stated about how the farmers cannot find markets to which to sell to. He also endured the fact that money does not make people happy. It is the achievement of which they will have once the mission is completed.
F. In the overall speech, more or less, what FDR was trying to convey to the audience is that the benefits of their fruits of labor to the overall good of the nation is the benefits that will be displayed. He also conveyed that it will be a long hard road, but together, with the understanding of what will come and what needs to be done, that this benefits the nation and its people overall.
G. Franklin D. Roosevelt gave out a lot of enthusiasm during his speech. You can tell by his change of tone in his voice. Another way is how he trembled in emotion when he spoke. However, his opening statement and "fear" speech started me out as interested in his speech. I was stricken with hope that this man could help out our nation and that his sincere speech and dedication was exactly what the country needed.
Many people can view the visual speech and hear Franklin D. Roosevelt on the website www.youtube.com. It is best understood when you read his speech as he is speaking it to understand the importance of his speech and how he was a good deliverer of one of the most famous speeches in the twentieth century. The need of the nation is of the up most importance to the president and is well conveyed in his message, through the dire need of his appointment in history.

Business outline
Fast Booze On The Move
April 25, 2009
Earl Sweeney, Owner/Manager
Dear Mr. Walker:
Helping you improve your business practice is of the highest priority to us at Fast Booze On The Move. That is why we here at Fast Booze On The Move is pleased to offer our business proposal. Our company can further the number of customers you have, and satisfy those that you already have. Our company has already had twelve years of outstanding success. We are able to offer alcohol at a lower price and a fast turn around too. In addition, we are one of the few license alcohol delivery companies in the country, and we have twelve years of experience already.
Background and Goals
We have been in our practice for twelve years. Our company initiated seeing something that no one really thought of but everyone could use, we saw a demand and an opportunity. That opportunity would lead to not only the distribution of something that 75 percent of homes already have, but something safe for the other people in the world.
Our goal is to safely distribute the distribution of alcohol. We all know when people are under the alcohol influence they do inappropriate actions. A lot of people are out driving around trying to find more booze. Our goal is to help reduce the number of alcohol related incidents. Our company prevents car accidents by preventing the need to drive. This will keep our families safe.
Proposed Plan
My proposed plan is that we can merge our companies and with your outstanding customer service background we can thrive for a better community. I have the capabilities to handle the business. This would cut down cost and increase profit. My proposed time would be an immediate merging. If we delayed our merge we would just be losing capital. I would be in direct management along with you. I like to be involved and proactive in the business. We will only sell the best of our products and make sure that the alcohol is stored at the proper temperatures.
Staffing
Fast Booze On The Move is currently staffed to initiate our business. When our business grows we are prepared to train. Currently we have eight drivers, four clerks, four stock men, and myself.
The company's eight drivers have been through multiple prestigious driving schools, in addition the drivers have a liquor license. Some of the schools that the drivers have been to are safe driving course, accident avoidance, and what to do when you lose control. My clerks all have their associates in business and accounting. One of them has prior experience working for a major company for 10 years. One of the others is new but is catching on very well; they all have their liquor license. Three of my stock men are pretty young; the other is 30 and has previous experiences at stores like Wal-Mart. All of the stock men are very energetic and they all have a liquor license. I have a bachelor in business management, and an associate in accounting. I also have prior experience as a manager for a company, and I have my liquor license.
Budget
Estimated Hours Rate Total
Drivers 35 14/hr. $ 490/per driver
Stock men 40 10/hr. 400/per stock men
Clerks 40 14/hr. 560/per clerk
Me 55 55,000/yearly
Total Costs per year estimate $458,520
Also with the budget there are other costs that will be involved which are to include:
- Vehicles
- Liquor costs
- Maintenance
- Packaging
- Fuel
- Storage
- Advertising
- Insurance
- Uniforms
By hiring us though, we can already have a reputable name built up so when we merge we just have to mention your company and mine and it should be a success. Also by hiring us we have already went through getting the liquor licensing which is not easy to get. Also you have many years of experience already in the business. There is also the training that people have gone through that equals time and money. There is many years of college already taken care off included to.
Schedule
The schedule that we are currently running involves:
Monday through Thursday 1 p.m. to 12 a.m.
Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 a.m.
Sunday off
During major holidays and long weekends we change the hours to accommodate the needs of the customer.
Conclusion
By merging Mr. Walker we would both be benefiting greatly. Also we would be cutting out a lot of un-needed costs. Instead of going through a middle man just go to the man himself. Instead of paying for shipping on a product we can just pick it up ourselves. The want is out there it is just our turn to make something out of it. You have the product and the customers, and I have the transportation means and the man power to distribute. So instead of paying someone else to do stuff for us, let us do for others.
Mr. Walker I would like to get back to you on idea of this proposition, but I would like to give you a week or two to think about it. If you have any further questions you can contact me on my cell at (812)719-5673 or email me at earl.sweeney@yahoo.com. I am looking forward to doing business with you and us becoming a team. I would like to setup a meeting around that time if you could.
Sincerely,
Earl Sweeney, Owner/Manager

Introductory Remarks:
As everyone knows we are here to discuss preparations for a career day in the spring. This is a very important day for the other students. This can be the day that the students find out what it is they want to do with the rest of their lives, or find out more information regarding whatever decision they have already made. We need to make sure that we have everything that we possibly can do for each other taken care of and make this day a success. Also we need to figure out a exact date of when we want to host this event. I am very glad to see all of you here and can not wait to work as a team with all of you.

Dear Ms. Mercado:
Please provide information with what you can offer for 75 rooms for four days, and three conference rooms for one and a half days.
Our company would like to know your room rates, conference facilities, and entertainment possibilities for families. Our dates right now that we are looking into is July 8-12 or August 18-22. I know that these are off peak times and wanted to know whether there is a discount that we can get.
Also I would like to know if you have any knowledge on what entertainment that will be showing at Paris Las Vegas during these times. Our CEO wants to host a banquet for 140 people one night during one of these times.
Thanks for responding before February 22 so that we can plan properly for this event. Any other additional information that you might have would also be appreciated.

TO: Bob Andover, College President
FROM: Mark King, Student
SUBJECT: Poor Class Schedules
The class schedule is overwhelming to some of the students on the campus. They think that the classes could be better scheduled. Students have other things that are involved in their lives then just college. There is no room for flexibility in the way that the classes are scheduled now.
The school should;
o Offer more classes at different times
o Offer make up times for classes
A more flexible schedule could benefit the college on a big level. By offering a more flexible class schedule more students are more likely to sign up for classes. When the students sign up for more classes that means that the college is going to receive more money by the students, and by the city or state that they are involved in. Another thing that could benefit the college would mean that the teachers are able to have a more flexible schedule, which intern is going to help them get more involved with their students. This involvement will increase grade point averages by a marginal bit.
Specifically I recommend that you do the following:
o Offer a more wide range of class times and classes
o Hire more teachers that are looking for a change of pace from time to time
o Take a survey before and after you make the changes to get feedback from your students
